Looking for a brilliant, qualified veterinary nurse to join our team
Position: Qualified Veterinary Nurse – Permanent Full-time
Albany Creek, QLD 4035
We are a privately-owned small animal practice of 22 years, with a young, knowledgeable team of legends, and established, generational clientele. We are looking for an experienced and qualified veterinary nurse to join us full-time, as we undergo continued, steady growth.

We pay above award wage too – the annual earnings for this position is AUD$75,000 - $80,000, depending on experience and extra skills.
About you:

Cert IV Veterinary Nurse, or Veterinary Technician with at least 3 years of experience in a busy practice

Highly knowledgeable and experienced in general practice
-
Reliable, with a positive, non-judgemental, friendly and professional attitude.

A sense of humour (preferably dark humour!) and the ability to enjoy a laugh, sometimes at ourselves.

Attention to detail and be accountable for your work.

Independent and self-motivated whilst also knowing when to ask for help

A willingness and readiness to continue to learn new processes, procedures and products
A typical day at work will require you to:
-
Confidently restrain dogs and cats of all temperaments
-
Monitor and respond to the needs of anaesthetised patients for a range of elective and urgent surgical and medical procedures

Perform a periodontal scale and polish, chart the mouth and take dental X-rays
-
Triage walk-in patients and provide emergency care to critical patients
-
Provide non-judgemental client care via phone, email and in person during admission and discharge appointments, as well as rostered Reception time
-
Perform venipuncture, IV catheterisation and administer medication via a range of routes, in a fast-paced environment
-
Perform laboratory procedures including preparation of blood smears, faecal floats, urinalysis and blood testing utilising the IDEXX suite
-
Position and take abdominal, thoracic and orthopaedic X-rays on conscious and anaesthetised patients
-
Provide client education within the nursing scope on nutrition, rehabilitation, grooming, exercise and preventative care.

Use your initiative to fill your downtime with cleaning, restocking, filing, organising and washing.
